POWMILL

A two-phase residential development in the village of Powmill in South Perthshire, located on the western edge of the settlement, overlooking forestry, farmland and the Perthshire countryside.

The first phase of development features 29 new homes, with a second future phase of 17 new homes. Phase 1 is accessed via a new road from the existing junction to the A977 to the east. This road forms the proposed streetscape for the development and has been designed to allow the continuation of the development and extensions of the roads into the future Phase 2 area.

Various house type options were explored as part of the design process, following which a 3-bedroom detached single-storey bungalow typology was developed and identified as the most appropriate for the site and local housing needs.

Wildlife corridors connect the northwest and southeast of the site to the west, linking with a new wildlife pond, which along with new hedge, tree & shrub planting species, flower beds and A977 buffer planting contribute to the biodiversity of the area.
