WORK IN PROGRESS
STEADING CONVERSION
Dunkeld, Perthshire
Construction commencement 2021
The project sees the conversion and subdivision of a former agricultural steading into two houses for the sons of the farmer. Large open-plan kitchen / living areas are created in each dwelling, benefitting from natural light from the existing barn openings. Three new dormers are proposed to the north elevation, as well as the relocation of two traditional arched openings.
The practice has worked in this area for the past 10 years creating holiday accommodation in the adjacent courtyard steadings, housing for rent in the village itself and sustainable heating systems with woodchip timber for a district heating scheme.
This is the final stone steading on the farm, and will provide local employment and housing, enabling the continuation of the farm operations for the family.
